Bishop McKnight to bless cross Feb. 1 at Midwest March for Life in J.C.

Bishop W. Shawn McKnight plans to attend the 10th annual Midwest March for Life on Feb. 1 in Jefferson City and to begin the event with a few words and a blessing of the cross that is to be carried at the front of the March.

The event is scheduled to begin outside the Selinger Expo Hall at St. Peter Church near the Capitol in Jefferson City.

Doors to the Selinger Expo Hall will open at 7:45 a.m., with life-affirming exhibits until 2 p.m. The pre-rally will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the march at 10 a.m., and a rally with keynote 40 Days for Life founder David Bereit at 10:45 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda. 

A Youth Rally led by Jacinta Florence of Students for Life of America will be held in the lower level of the Selinger Centre at 1 p.m.

Also at 1 p.m., Mr. Bereit, Founder of 40 Days for Life will lead a training workshop for adults on successfully discussing pro-life issues, in the Father Ahrens Room in the lower level of the St. Peter Rectory.

The events are sponsored by Columbia 40 Days For Life through the St. Andrew Pro-life Committee.
