VOGEL — Who can you trust?

Posted

A while back, I hired a contractor to build a garage.

I gave him the downpayment and he did some preliminary work, but never built the garage; wouldn’t return calls, etc.

When I confronted him about getting my downpayment back, he got mean, cussed me out.

He didn’t have much, so the chances of getting my money back were zero and none.

But what hurt the most was that I had tried to work things out with him but he just got mean. I didn’t deserve that, I was trying to help him.

I have a friend who has a lot of money. He knows people, he can get things done. I told him about my problem with the contractor. Turns out, he goes to the same church as the contractor. He just gave me some money to make up for what I lost and said he would work things out with the contractor. I’m so relieved! I have the money I lost and I can trust my friend to square things up with the contractor.

I saw the contractor the other day at the hardware store. I smiled and waved, wished him well; I know everything is OK, my friend got it all squared away. Life is good.

Of course you know, my friend is Jesus. That’s how forgiveness works. You tell your problem to Jesus and He takes care of everything. Whatever you lost, your money, your pride, your health, your dignity; he gives you all that you need and makes you whole again. He can do that. He has immense wealth and incredible power. Trust him.

If you say you forgive, but every time you think about what you lost you get angry and wish you could get even, forgiveness was only words. When you take your problem to Jesus, you can let go of it and be free.

Then when you think about what you lost you can feel joy, knowing Jesus has made everything right. In spite of losing my money to the contractor, I have all I need. Life is good.
