Successful Ocean Discovery Vacation Bible School in St. Patrick

Posted

“If you build it, they will come” has certainly proven true for Vacation Bible School, now in its fourth year of bringing area children and families together for faith, fellowship and fun.

St. Michael Parish in Kahoka and Shrine of St. Patrick Parish in St. Patrick recently hosted Ocean Discovery Vacation Bible School (VBS), welcoming children from more than 40 families for an incredible week of learning, laughter, worship and growing together in faith.

An average of 70 youth attended each evening, making this year’s VBS another wonderful success.

Throughout the week, young people explored God’s Word through Matthew 14:22-33, Mark 4:35-41, and Isaiah 43:2.

Through each lesson, children were reminded that no matter how rough life’s waters may become, God is always with them.

Each evening was filled with music, crafts, outdoor games, Bible lessons, meals, new friendships and opportunities for children to grow closer to Jesus.

VBS would not be possible without the tremendous support of the parishes and surrounding community. A heartfelt thank you goes to the James and Laura Gray family, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus, and St. Patrick Betterment Group for generously providing meals throughout the week. Their support helped make each evening even more special for the children and families in attendance.

A special thank you is also extended to Father Robert Fields, pastor, for his unwavering support, guidance, and dedication to the youth of the parish — not only during Vacation Bible School, but throughout the entire year. His continued leadership and encouragement are a blessing to the parish community.

The success of Ocean Discovery VBS was truly a group effort. St. Michael and Shrine of St. Patrick parishes extend their sincere appreciation to every volunteer, parent, donor and child who helped make the week possible.

After four years of VBS, the continued enthusiasm and support from local families serve as a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to invest in its children and their faith.
