Professional storyteller Mett Morris of Chicago tells children the story of Northeastern Missouri native Venerable Father Augustus Tolton, the Roman Catholic Church’s first recognizably Black priest in the United States, through the persona of his mother, Martha Jane Tolton, at this year’s Camp Tolton event in Clarence. After Mrs. Morris’s presentation, the campers and counselors shared games and activities before heading to the chapel for the closing Mass. Father Paul Clark, diocesan vocation director, presided at the Mass. Father Joseph Luzindana, diocesan moderator for youth and young adult ministry, preached the homily. (44 photos)
