The Peace Garden -- including a Peace Pond and Peace Pole, engraved with the word "Peace" in many languages -- at the former Our Lady of Peace Monastery in Columbia was completed coincidentally on Sept. 11, 2001. It was a source of refreshment and solace to the Benedictine sisters who called Our Lady of Peace home and the many visitors they welcomed before the monastery closed in 2010 and the sisters moved to other communities.
