Bishop W. Shawn McKnight celebrates the Jefferson City diocese’s inaugural Rural Life Mass the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, on Steve and Carol Steinman’s family farm near Vienna, Mo. Eight priests concelebrated, three deacons assisted and more than 350 people from throughout the diocese took part. It was an opportunity to worship God with people from all over the diocese while celebrating all that is good and wholesome about farming, rural communities, the faith that sustains them and the parishes that are often so much a part of them.
