PHOTOS: Bishop McKnight offers "Mass in the Quad" on MU campus

Bishop W. Shawn McKnight offers this year’s “Mass on the Quad” the evening of Sunday, Aug. 27, in Traditions Plaza in the middle of the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. Several priests joined him at the altar, including Father Andrew Auer, associate pastor of St. Thomas Newman Center Parish, who preached the homily. Several hundred young people, mostly students at the University of Missouri, Columbia College and Stephens College in Columbia, attended the Mass. St. Thomas More Newman Center Parish’s campus ministry department and parishioners organize the beloved tradition each year to welcome students back to campus. Congregants were encouraged to submit their contact information, keeping them connected with events and activities at the Newman Center, located at 602 Turner Avenue.
