Bishop Ralph B. O’Donnell consecrates the new altar and blesses the new sanctuary elements in St. Pius X Church in Moberly, with a capacity congregation present. He and Father Louis Nelen, pastor of St. Pius X Parish, then pray the Eucharistic Prayer at the new altar and repose the Most Blessed Sacrament in the new tabernacle. The back wall of the sanctuary has been made taller in order to give greater prominence to the crucifix and the Most Blessed Sacrament. In his homily, Bishop O’Donnell urged everyone to keep returning to their home at the altar and to carry what they receive — the Body and Blood of the Lord — back out into every aspect of their lives. He reminded them that 50 or 100 years now, their descendants will still be worshiping there and continuing to grow in the faith that will have been handed down to them. (138 photos)
