Monsignor Robert A. Kurwicki, chaplain of the Missouri House of Representatives, led the assembly in prayer the morning of Feb. 5, 2025, the Wednesday before Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles:
“In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.” (Psalm 71:1)
Lord of our lives, we know of no finer way to begin this day than by pausing before you in prayer, and in praying, renew our faith, restore our spirits, and rededicated our lives to you and to the welfare of our great State. In these days that call for wisdom, understanding, and good will, may we possess your spirit, or better still, may your spirit possess us that we may plan with faith, work with courage, and live with love in our hearts.
Finally, grant to all Missourians the graces to be super, to be agile like a Reid in the wind, to be Swift, to be accurate like an Arrowhead, to be sure-footed, and to be able to drink from the bowl of victory, not once, not twice but three times!
Let Eagles not distract us, may we not have penalties, and may God protect your home, their homes and Mahomes.
May God bless America and the Super Bowl from sea to shining Kelce.
And the House says, “Amen!”
