St. Thomas native Sister Rose Mary Boessen RSM, a Sister of Mercy, had the honor of renewing her vows on her 65th anniversary in religious life, on Aug. 24.

She did so at the 5 p.m. Mass in Twin Falls, Idaho.

“Sister Rosie” is director of La Posada Inc., which she started 31 years ago.

So Many of God’s people in the community give her food, clothing, toys and many other “goodies” to give to God’s people who are in need.

Finding money through grants and donations is her biggest challenge so she can pay for motels or provide some money toward rent or related expenses.

“God’s people are wonderful!” she stated.

On Sundays, she continues to go to Jackpot, Nevada, and prepare for Mass and help the children with their classes.

“God is so good to me!” she said.

As a DOJ Representative for Immigration, she has many refugees for clients.

“It is so exciting to see fathers united with their families and help renew resident cards or apply for and gain citizenship,” she said.

She said it’s always nice to be able to visit her home parish, St. Thomas the Apostle in St. Thomas, and return to the farm.

“Here is where the Lord prepared me for His work among His people!” she said.

Her mailing address is: Sister Rose Mary Boessen, P.O. Box 1962, Twin Falls, ID 83303.
