Father Nicholas Reid, a priest of the Jefferson City diocese and a U.S. Air Force chaplain, has been promoted to the rank of Major in the Air Force.

Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, archbishop of the Military Services USA, notified Fr. Reid of his promotion in an April 28 letter.

“Mindful of the many personal sacrifices you have had to make, as well as the selection process, I am well aware of the significance of your accomplishment,” Archbishop Broglio wrote. “Your recognition as an outstanding chaplain-officer by your superiors well reflects the esteem of the good people whom you serve.”

The archbishop thanked Fr. Reid for the gift of his Priesthood and his pastoral service to the men and women and family members of the U.S. Air Force.

“Remain always, as well as first and foremost, a priest after the model of Jesus Christ, the High Priest and Good Shepherd,” Archbishop Broglio wrote.

Currently ministering as a chaplain at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas, Fr. Reid will return to the Jefferson City diocese in order to serve as pastor of St. Martin Parish in St. Martins and St. Michael Parish in Russellville, effective July 1.

“I could not have been more grateful for my 10 years on Active Duty as chaplain in the world’s greatest Air Force and my past five years spent in San Antonio, surrounded by my parents, twin brother, and family,” Fr. Reid stated.

He has received permission to continue his service in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee Program (IMA) chaplain, beginning in Canon, New Mexico.
