St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in St. Robert hosts an outreach group called Connected Threads — Connecting Lives.
This group does all sorts of stitchery together, often donating their work to local charities. For example, when members learned to crochet, they made baby wraps to gift to each child as he or she is baptized.
As a Lenten service project this year, the participants bought and donated hygiene products and large washcloths that they sewed into take-along packets.
These hygiene packs were donated to the St. Robert city jail (yes, the town is named after the parish) and county jail to help people who are incarcerated there upon their release, as well as transient people that officers encounter.
