Bishop-elect W. Shawn McKnight leads the praying of Solemn Vespers with fellow bishops and priests, dignitaries and members of the local Church Feb. 5, the night before his ordination and installation as bishop of the Jefferson City diocese. Bishop Emeritus John R. Gaydos, who led the diocese for 20 years, gave the homily. Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Pope Francis' personal representative to the United States, accepted Bishop-elect McKnight's profession of faith and oath of obedience during the service. A reception took place in the Cathedral Undercroft after the service.
