PHOTOS: Lifting of new steeple cross onto St. Peter Church

Several hundred people, including the students of St. Peter Interparish School, gather outside historical St. Peter Church in Jefferson City on the Monday of Holy Week to see the blessing of the new steeple cross and the lifting of the cross into place, some 170 feet above. The previous cross, installed when the church was built in 1883, was damaged in a 2020 hailstorm. The new cross and restoration of the roof and roof-level stonework coincides with the parish’s 175th anniversary this year. (86 photos)
