Several hundred pilgrims from as far as St. Louis and Kansas City take part in this year's Fall Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows in Starkenburg. The day included Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, a Rosary procession to the Mount Olivet and Lourdes Grottos, the Stations of the Cross, a Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, lunch, Benediction and Mass at the outdoor altar. Deacon Gerald Korman led the devotions. Monsignor Gregory A. Higley offered Mass. This autumn tradition for what is now Church of the Risen Savior parish in Rhineland dates back to 1891 and is held on a Sunday close to the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Annual spring pilgrimages are also held each May. www.historicshrine.com. (99 photos)
