Much to see and read with diocesan paper’s new online edition

The Catholic Missourian’s long-awaited online edition is garnering plaudits and accolades from readers.

The online edition can be found at www.CatholicMissourianOnline.com or www.cathmo.com.

Extensive coverage of Bishop W. Shawn McKnight’s ordination and installation — much more than could ever be published in the print edition — has already been posted there, along with galleries containing hundreds of photos from the ordination and events leading up to it.

The online edition also includes a searchable archive of many articles going back to October of 2017.

New articles from Catholic News Service (CNS) are being posted regularly, as will be all articles from each print edition, along with additional local articles and photos.

There is also a separate tab for CNS articles in Spanish.

“We’re still working to make all the features functional and the layout more reader-friendly,” stated Jay Nies, editor. “But we hope everyone will enjoy what’s already there and will keep coming back for new articles, columns, photos and other content.”

The goal is to expand the Church’s outreach to the growing number of people who prefer to get their news online, while continuing to offer a quality print publication for the many people in the diocese who prefer to receive their news in that form.

Freed of the space constraints of a print publication, the online edition also offers a tremendous capacity for disseminating and sharing information.

The start of the online edition coincides with the change of the paper’s print edition to a biweekly publication throughout the year.

The cost for subscriptions remains $14 per year for parishioners and $16 for non-parishioners, which includes 26 print editions per year and unlimited access to the online edition.

A large portion of subscription and advertising revenue helps cover the cost of gathering and presenting news and other local content and securing national and international news and photos through Catholic News Service.
