Installing Bishop McKnight's new coat of arms in the cathedral
Bishop W. Shawn McKnight oversees James Hall and Ken Sargent in placing the bishop’s coat of arms on the sanctuary wall above his chair in the cathedral. Mr. Hall created the wooden relief of the coat of arms. The chair, symbol of a bishop’s authority over a diocese, was vacant from Nov. 21 — when Pope Francis accepted Bishop Emeritus John R. Gaydos’ request for early retirement — and Bishop McKnight’s ordination and installation on Feb. 6.
